Hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been neglecting the website for a while. My husband and I have had a busy week to say the least. Last Wednesday we closed on the sale of our house in Arizona and it was also the day we left to make the 2 day drive to Colorado. It was a LONG drive and one I would rather not do again any time soon. My dad helped us out and drove the Uhaul while we each drove our cars up. I am so grateful that he offered to drive and help us unload when we got there!
For the most part the scenery on this drive was pretty boring, mostly just wide open spaces. The first day we drove for 9 hours and spent the night in Las Vegas…New Mexico. Lets just say that if you’ve never been there you probably don’t need to add it to your list of places to visit. The next day our drive was only about 5 hours, but it felt just as long because we were anxious to get there.
We are currently living in a one bed room tiny apartment. This is a huge adjustment coming from a 3 bedroom house. Most of our belongings are in storage, including the majority of my kitchen equipment. It kills me that I can’t cook anything elaborate or bake to my heart’s content. Luckily though this won’t last much longer. Last Saturday while we were out house hunting we found the one! We put in an offer immediately because the houses in the city we want to live in come and go with the blink of an eye. The sellers gave us a counter offer and it was one that we were okay accepting, so we are now under contract. If everything goes smoothly we will be moving into our new home at the end of the month! Lets just say that all the unpacking in the apartment came to a dead halt once we went under contract. What’s the point of unpacking when we will just be packing up again in a few weeks?!
Anyways aside from the cramped quarters I’ve been enjoying every minute of Colorado! The weather is perfect, the scenery is amazing, and getting to spend more time with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins has been the best! Since my husband had to start work right away I’ve been spending a lot of time with them. However, my husband and I have gone out on a couple of bike rides in the early evening and loved every minute of them. We are so excited about all of the outdoor things we will be able to do. The trail systems around where we will be living are incredible and go on for miles!
All of the new things I am seeing and experiencing in Colorado gave me an idea for how I can share all of the things I see with everyone. I decided that on Friday’s instead of sharing a recipe or race report with you I’m going to simply share what I did that week, hence the name A Week in a Day. For the most part this will be mostly done through pictures and maybe some captions here and there. I hope you all enjoy seeing the beauty of Colorado as much as I am and will be!
