This Chocolate Espresso Banana Smoothie is perfect for chocolate and coffee lovers! Creamy, naturally sweet and great for a quick breakfast or snack.
I woke up this morning to white roofs and snow falling. The temperature today is only supposed to get to a high of 13 degrees and the low is supposed to be -8 degrees. So, naturally I thought to myself I think I’ll share a recipe for a Chocolate Espresso Banana Smoothie with you today!
I know, it’s probably not what you are craving on a cold snowy morning, but it wasn’t snowing like this yesterday morning and boy did it taste delicious then.
I usually crave something cold to drink after I get done running or working out, even if it is freezing outside. Yesterday was no exception. I got off my treadmill after a 6 mile run and was craving something cold and creamy to drink. I was also pretty tired and knew I was going to need a little caffeine. I always have bananas in the freezer, so I thought I would try making a smoothie combining chocolate, espresso, and banana.
This smoothie is so easy to make and is perfect for all of you (myself included) chocolate and coffee/espresso lovers out there. The smoothie is naturally sweetened by the bananas, but if you think it needs extra sweetener feel free to add a little honey. I also love adding Greek yogurt to my smoothies for some extra protein.
To make this smoothie all you need is a couple of frozen bananas, unsweetened cocoa powder, Greek yogurt, milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk), espresso powder, and vanilla extract. Take all of those ingredients, throw them in a blender, and in seconds you have a creamy, chocolatey, espresso flavored smoothie that is sure to satisfy you and give you a morning jolt!
