Give your old fashioned cocktail a holiday twist by adding blueberries and a sweet cinnamon simple syrup!

Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned | Give your old fashioned cocktail a holiday twist by adding blueberries and a sweet cinnamon simple syrup! #ad #LittleChangesHappy thirsty Thursday friends! I know I don’t share a whole lot of cocktail recipes, which is strange because I love creating them. However, with the holidays coming up it’s the perfect time to create some delicious drinks that you can serve up at your holiday party or just enjoy on a Sunday evening like I do. My husband and I like to have a happy hour on Sunday evenings. It’s a nice way to unwind and get ready for another week of work. Recently I made us these fabulous Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned cocktails and boy were they tasty!

I think many of us think that blueberries are only a summer fruit, but the frozen ones make it possible for us to enjoy that wonderful berry flavor year-round.

Adding blueberries to your holiday menu can make a big difference in flavor not to mention added health benefits! Using frozen blueberries this time of year is perfect because you know they will be ripe and sweet. More than likely the fresh ones you find at the stores this time of year will taste more like lemons than berries…not good.

First they are defrosted, mashed up, then pressed through a fine mesh sieve so that you end up with blueberry juice. The blueberry juice, bourbon, cinnamon simple syrup, and bitters are all mixed together and poured over ice.

The final touches to top off this holiday cocktail are sparkling water or club soda and a few of the whole frozen blueberries. The blueberries turn the drink a beautiful purplish-blue color that is sure to catch everyone’s eye! If you’re looking for a signature cocktail to serve this holiday season, look no further than this Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned. You can grab the recipe over on the Blueberry Council website today!

Thanks to the Blueberry Council for sponsoring this post. As always all opinions are my own.
