Did you all have a nice Christmas? I had a great Christmas as always. It was a little different this year since my husband and I moved to Colorado. Neither of us had our parents or siblings with us, but fortunately we were able to spend Christmas Eve and Day with my aunt, uncle, cousins, and my aunt’s family. There were lots of gifts, fun, laughing, and food! Oh the food, I may have overindulged slightly, ok a little more than slightly. I couldn’t help it though, there were cookies and cannolis involved! After all of the sugar, carbs, and heavy food I’ve been craving foods that are a little lighter and healthier.

Cranberry Orange SmoothieLets just say I need a detox after all of the yummy Christmas treats. This morning after my run I decided that a cranberry orange smoothie would be just the thing my body needed.

Cranberry Orange SmoothieThis smoothie is perfectly healthy and doesn’t make you feel like you are denying yourself of something sweet and delicious. I don’t know about you, but I can’t go cold turkey on sweet foods especially after overindulging on them the past week. My body has to ease into consuming less sugar. My cranberry orange smoothie did just the trick for me.

Cranberry Orange SmoothieThe only added sweetness besides that of the fruit comes from 1/2 a tablespoon of honey. The smoothie was full of protein from the non fat Greek yogurt and unsweetened vanilla almond milk I used. As well as using some frozen cranberries and the juice of an orange, I also threw in a frozen banana for added sweetness and extra creaminess. The smoothie was cold and creamy and full of sweet, tangy, fruity flavor. If you are feeling a little weighed down from all the holiday food, but still craving a little something sweet, try this healthy and delicious Cranberry Orange Smoothie. It’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and get you back on track to healthier eating!
