The flavors of warm, citrusy cardamom, juicy pears and a sweet almond glaze will have you grabbing a second slice of this Cardamom Pear Bread with Almond Glaze!
It’s going to be another awful weekend in here in Colorado…mid 70’s and sunny. Just kidding! I’m absolutely loving our fall this year. A few cooler days here and there, but for the most part I’m still wearing shorts every day. On the cooler days I love to turn on the oven and do some baking. It warms up the house and makes it smell wonderful. This Cardamom Pear Bread with Almond Glaze made our house smell especially good and it tasted even better!
Before the cold weather decides to stick around, we still have some house projects that we’re working on. If you remember way back in May we had a huge hailstorm that did some serious damage to a lot of the houses in our area. So far we’ve had our roof replaced and in a couple weeks we are having the outside of the house painted. I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally be getting the ugly yellow, green and red paint colors removed! They’re the same colors that have been on the house since we moved in and I’ve hated them since that very first day. It will be so nice not to be the big ugly yellow house in the neighborhood anymore.
Back to this sweet, moist, pear bread. I wanted to make sure I gave the poor pear some love this fall because it always takes a back seat to pumpkin and apple recipes. Along with pears being underused, cardamom is as well. I think it’s one of those spices that people just pass by because they have no idea what it tastes like. Cardamom has a bold unique flavor that is a little difficult to describe. There are citrusy notes to it, along with floral and herbal flavors. As far as spices go it’s on the expensive end, so unless you plan to use it frequently I suggest buying a small amount in bulk (Most Whole Foods stores have this option).
Today I’m sharing the recipe for this quick bread over at Spoonful of Flavor. Head on over there for the recipe and get baking this weekend!
Just wanted to say that I made this recipe for my friend last week and she loved it. Thanks. Keep doing what youโre doing!
Hi Danae – wha ta beautiful loaf. Love it. You’re right, pears get passed by in the fall. I have a number of ripe ones in a bowl on my counter right now. Hmmmm…
I love the sound of this bread! Pear is fall’s unsung hero, and cardamom is the prefect “pairing” ????
This bread looks delicious! It would be perfect with a cup of coffee!
