Add as a preferred source on GoogleThis cozy spiced pear baked oatmeal is the perfect breakfast for chilly fall and winter mornings! It’s made with sweet pears, warm spices, and soft, chewy oats. These pear baked oats are wholesome, naturally sweetened, easy to make, and perfect for meal prep or a weekend brunch!

Pears don’t seem to get much love in fall and winter. It’s all about apples and pumpkin, which don’t get me wrong, I love. But, I like to give the underrated pears the love they deserve. I love making a cozy pear crisp for dessert, and pear ginger muffins with pear mimosas are a must for brunch.
On that note, this pear baked oatmeal is another fabulous brunch idea or make it for a quick and easy breakfast to eat throughout the week. It takes about 15 minutes to prep and the oven takes care of the rest. Aside from the sweet, juicy pears, you’ll love the warm spiced flavor from the cinnamon, ginger, and allspice, and crunch from the pecans. I like to top it with cinnamon sugar for a sweet, crackly top. It’s one of my favorite ways to use fall and winter’s lesser used fruits!

This list of ingredients highlights the ones you may have questions about. The full list of ingredients is in the recipe card.
Oats – Old-fashioned rolled oats are best for baked oatmeal because they hold their shape and chewy texture when baked.
Spices – Cinnamon, ginger, and allspice all have delicious warm flavors, which pair perfectly with the sweet pears. Allspice can be substituted with cloves, but it will have a more pungent flavor.
Pecans – If you love a crunchy element in baked oatmeal, toasted pecans are a must. Walnuts also work well, or you can skip the nuts.
Milk – Dairy or non-dairy milk will work. I’ve made it with both successfully.
Egg – The egg acts as the binder and gives the baked oats structure and makes it easier to cut into slices.
Maple syrup – The sweetener for the pear oatmeal. Use pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup.
Vanilla – Vanilla brings out the sweetness of the pears. I love to use vanilla bean paste for baking because it has a more concentrated flavor, but vanilla extract is perfectly fine to use.
Pears – The star ingredient! A sweet, juicy pear such as Bartlett pears or Happi pears are my favorite to use. No need to peel the pears.

Tips for the Best Baked Oatmeal with Pears
Below are tips, variations, and recommendations I’ve gathered while making this pear baked oatmeal to help you successfully make it too!
- Use ripe pears. If pears aren’t ripe they don’t have much flavor and texture is crunchy and dry instead of soft and juicy.
- No need to peel the pears. If pear skin doesn’t bother you, don’t peel the pears. That’s wear a lot of the fiber and nutrients are.
- Gluten-free. Oats are naturally gluten-free, however where they are processed may not be. Be sure to check the package to ensure the oats are certified gluten-free.
- Add protein. If you’re looking for more way to add more protein to baked oats, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to the mixture before baking. I recommend using unflavored or vanilla protein powder.
- Add toppings. This baked oatmeal has an optional (but recommend) cinnamon sugar topping. You can also top it with a dollop of Greek yogurt or nut butter for extra protein and maple syrup for sweetness. Some people also like have a piece in a bowl with a little milk or cream poured on top.
What Are the Best Pears for Baking?
If you want the pears to be softer and sweeter in the baked oatmeal use Bartlett or Happi (my personal favorite, but harder to find) pears.
If you prefer that the pears hold their shape use Bosc or Anjou. These varieties aren’t as sweet and have a firmer texture.

What to Serve with Pear Baked Oatmeal
Pear baked oatmeal is perfect for a fall or winter brunch. I love to serve it with my winter fruit salad, this savory crustless vegetable quiche or these cottage cheese egg bites.
How to Store and Reheat Baked Oatmeal
How to store: Store the leftover baked oatmeal in the fridge for up to 4 days. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap or store it in any airtight container.
Reheating: You can reheat individual pieces of baked oatmeal in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or until warm. You can also reheat the entire baked oatmeal in a 350° F. oven for 20-25 minutes or until warm. Cover the top with foil to prevent it from getting to brown and drying out.
Can You Freeze Pear Baked Oatmeal?
Yes. Pear baked oatmeal and all of my baked oatmeal recipes, including this pumpkin baked oatmeal and apple cinnamon baked oatmeal can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 2 months. You can wrap individual pieces in plastic wrap and when you’re ready to eat one, unwrap it and microwave from frozen for 1-2 minutes.
