I can’t believe I’ve gone all summer without sharing a frozen yogurt or ice cream recipe with you! What is wrong with me?! I’ve certainly eaten my share (and probably 10 other people’s shares) of frozen yogurt and ice cream. I actually haven’t even been making it very often on my own. I have a good reason though, we found a cute and delicious little ice cream place called Inside Scoop Creamery. This ice cream shop makes all of their own ice cream right there at the store and they have 24 different flavors! I practically have a panic attack trying to decide which flavor(s) to pick. I love that they have the classic flavors like cookie dough, coffee, and cookies and cream, but then they have more creative ones like strawberry basil, honey lavender, and malted milk ball. Don’t even get me started on how good their waffle cones are! Ugh, just talking about it makes me want to get in my car and go get some. Anyways let’s get back on track. I’ve finally got my act together and am so excited to share this delicious recipe for Honey Peach Frozen Yogurt!

Honey Peach Frozen Yogurt | Recipe Runner | A perfectly sweet end of summer frozen yogurt! Tastes just like peach pie! #peaches #summer #frozenyogurt

Peaches are the main fruit being eaten around the house these days. They are at the peak of their season here in Colorado and they taste incredible. The Palisade peaches that are grown here in Colorado are better than any peaches I ever ate in Arizona and I am completely in love with them. I find myself making special trips to Whole Foods just so I can buy a few. I’ve been hoarding them from my husband and hiding them in the back of the fruit drawer in hopes that he won’t find them. However, today he went with me to Whole Foods and wanted some, so I suppose I’ll have to share now, dangit! I’m definitely stingy when it comes to sharing good fruit. The only other food I don’t like to share is my ice cream or frozen yogurt. So imagine how I was when I made this Honey Peach Frozen Yogurt, back off everyone, get your own bowl!

Not only does this frozen yogurt have a peach in the base of the yogurt, but I also sautéed some in a frying pan with a little bit of butter, honey, and cinnamon, then mixed them into the base after they had cooled. Adding those sweet little chunks of cinnamon honey buttered peaches into the frozen yogurt made it taste just like peach pie! I can’t even imagine how amazing a scoop or two of this frozen yogurt would be with a slice of peach pie.

Honey is the only sweetener in this frozen yogurt and it pairs perfectly with the peaches. I knew I wanted to use honey after I had paired it with my Grilled Apricots with Almond Whipped Cream and Honey. Honey and stone fruit were made for each other! Something magical happens when you grill, roast, or sauté fruit with a little bit of butter and honey, if you haven’t tried it add it to your list. So, before the most magical time of the year, peach season, is over, get out those ice cream makers and make this Honey Peach Frozen Yogurt!

Ingredients

For the Honey Peach Frozen Yogurt

  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt full fat is best
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1 peach peeled and diced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

For the Sauteed Peaches

  • 2 peaches peeled and diced

  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a saute pan over medium-high heat melt the butter. When the butter is melted add the diced peaches and saute for 2 minutes. Add in the honey and cinnamon and saute another minute. Remove from the heat and let the peaches cool completely.
  • In a blender, add the yogurt, half and half, diced peach, honey, and vanilla bean paste. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze per the manufacturer's instructions. Remove the frozen yogurt from the machine and put it into a tupperware or glass dish. Stir the sauteed peaches into the frozen yogurt. Freeze for 1-2 hours before serving.

Notes

Because this is low fat frozen yogurt it will freeze hard. Let the frozen yogurt sit out for 10-15 minutes before scooping.

We don’t keep half and half on hand. Can you use another dairy-fish product like vanilla almond milk or 2% milk? Thx.

    1. Danae says:

You can, just be aware that the consistency and creaminess will change depending on the fat content of what you choose to use. The less fat in the frozen yogurt the icier the texture and the harder it will freeze.

This is so good! We have a peach tree and I made it several times. Our tree is done, so I bought peaches today to make it again! I also made it with strawberries, but I think I prefer the peaches. They pair very well with the honey.

Thanks Twila! I’m so excited to hear you like it and so jealous of your peach tree! ;-)
