Well guys, it’s stinking hot here in Arizona! Last weekend it was a 112…no that is not a typo. It’s been close to 110 all week, and this morning as I drove to work just before 8:00 AM it was already 90 degrees. So, actually saying it’s hot here is an understatement!Chocolate Cherry Banana SmoothieAll the sweating made me pretty thirsty last Sunday so I decided to make a nice frosty cold smoothie for lunch. Since cherries are in season right now I knew I had to put those in it. I discovered while pitting my cherries by hand how much I desperately wanted a cherry pitter like this one. My husband would disagree with me saying that I have enough kitchen gadgets. What does he know, I didn’t see him standing there removing pits from all those cherries. I did however see him suck down a tall glass of my smoothie, enjoying every drop of it!

Chocolate Cherry Banana SmoothieAlong with the cherries, I also had a craving for chocolate so I added some unsweetened cocoa powder. Of course there was a banana involved in this smoothie, because bananas should be involved in everything! Lastly, I love the flavor of almond and since it pairs so well with cherries I added just a touch of almond extract. For those of you who don’t care for almond flavor (aka my lovely sister in law) vanilla extract would work as well, but I highly recommend trying the almond.

Chocolate Cherry Banana Smoothie You can make this smoothie using any kind of milk. I happened to have unsweetened vanilla almond milk in my fridge, but cow’s milk, soy milk, or even chocolate almond milk would all be delicious in this.

Chocolate Cherry Banana SmoothieSo if you are sitting around wasting away in your sweat, get up, drag yourself to the kitchen, stick your head in the freezer for a couple minutes, and then make this smoothie! It’s sure to make any sweaty day just a little better!

Looks like I’m your first comment on this recipe! That’s a shame. Because this sounds incredible, and I’m gonna make it now! I just pitted 6 lbs of cherries this morning and froze them. And bananas to. I’m going g to use canned coconut milk. I do have almond extract Its amazing with anything cherry. Thankyou for this recipe! Hope you are doing well. Btw, my son my only child lives in Flagstaff. Where are you located?
