How to Make Greek Chicken Bowls
Making these bowls takes a few steps, but I promise it’s worth it when everything comes together. You can also everything ahead of time so all you have to do is assemble when dinner time rolls around.
Start by making the tzatziki sauce. You’ll combine shredded cucumber, Greek yogurt, fresh chopped dill, lemon juice and garlic powder in a bowl. Stir everything together and taste for seasoning. Refrigerate the sauce until your ready to serve.
For the Greek salad, dice the cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, kalamata olives and add them to a bowl along with the chopped parsley. Pour in the red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper and stir everything together.
For the Greek ground chicken, start by sautéing the onion and chicken in a large skillet. Use a wooden spoon to crumble the chicken and add all of the dried spices and lemon zest into the mix. Stir everything together and continue cooking until the chicken is no longer pink.
For the rice, I like to use par-cooked rice that I can stick in the microwave for a couple minutes and it’s ready. To give the rice extra flavor, stir in a couple tablespoons of lemon juice, fresh chopped dill and season with salt and pepper.
To assemble the bowls, add some of the rice to a bowl or plate. Top it with the ground chicken, some of the Greek tomato cucumber salad, a dollop of tzatziki and crumbled feta cheese.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Kind of Meat Can I Use Besides Ground Chicken?
Substitute ground chicken with lean ground turkey, beef or even lamb.
How Long will the Tzatziki Sauce Keep For?
The tzatziki will keep for about 4 days in the fridge. You will want to stir it before each use as the cucumber will release water into the sauce and there will likely be some separation.
Can I Use Fresh Garlic Instead of Garlic Powder in the Tzatziki?
Absolutely. I’m not a big fan of raw garlic, but if you love it, by all means use fresh garlic in the tzatziki sauce. You’ll want to use probably 1-2 cloves depending on how much you love it. I recommend grating it into sauce with a microplane zester so that you don’t bite into a big chunk.
What Can I Use Instead of Rice?
Quinoa, farro, Israeli couscous or even cauliflower rice for a low carb option would all be good substitutions.

I’m so glad you like the bowl Jordyn! One of my favs too!
This was a hit! Tried it out tonight on my family in preparation for a teachers luncheon for 30 ladies next week. The flavors were wonderful and I served homemade pita bread too- such a winning bowl, thanks so much!
This was so very good. I loved the spices, just that hint of cinnamon. It turned ground chicken into a very tasty, healthy dish. My husband loved it, especially the lemon flavoring. I will definitely make this again and certainly pass it on!
Any suggestions for non dairy to replace the yogurt?
Unfortunately I don’t have any recommendations for dairy free yogurt. I would just omit it, there will still be plenty of flavor.
I know this is an old post, but it may help anyone that is coming across it only now, such as myself.
You can use soy yogurt or coconut yogurt as a substitute for Greek yogurt.
Quick to make, easy and flavorful! Will 100% make again.
Menu planning for the week. Adding this! Can’t wait to try this. What a fresh change from the regular old meals.
This was delicious, I used store bought tzatziki, left out the onions in the recipe, and added feta to the cucumber salad. A definite make again!
