Why You’ll Love Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette
Better than store bought salad dressing – Store bought salad dressing doesn’t compare to this creamy balsamic dressing! The flavors is sweet, tangy, savory, and perfectly balanced.
Simple ingredients – Store bought salad dressing can often be loaded with preservatives and ingredients you can’t pronounce. This homemade balsamic dressing only uses 7 ingredients and you probably already have most of them.
Easy to make – All you need is a mixing bowl and a whisk to make this dressing. If want to use a blender you can, but it isn’t necessary.
Ingredients
Balsamic vinegar – Use a good quality balsamic vinegar. The more aged balsamic vinegar is the sweeter and more syrupy it is.
Plain Greek yogurt – Greek yogurt is a great way to cut come of the fat and calories in the dressing and it adds protein.
Mayonnaise – Gives the dressing a rich, luscious, creamy flavor and consistency. Chosen Foods Avocado Oil Mayo is my favorite brand to use.
Dijon mustard – Adds a sharp tangy flavor to the dressing.
Garlic powder – If you don’t like the flavor of raw garlic in dressing, garlic powder is the solution.
Maple syrup – Maple syrup adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the dressing to balance out the tart and tangy flavors.
Olive oil – I like to use extra virgin olive oil for dressings and vinaigrettes.
Salt and Pepper – A must for balancing all the flavors.
How to Make Creamy Balsamic Dressing
Add all of the ingredients to a mixing bowl. Whisk them together until smooth and taste for seasoning.
Add additional salt and pepper as needed. You can also add extra maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter dressing.
Substitutions and Variations
- Substitute maple syrup with an equal amount of honey.
- Add a fresh herb. A little bit of finely chopped rosemary would work well. You can also use dried herbs. A 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning would be delicious.
- Make the dressing sweeter. Most bottled dressings are quite sweet, so if you prefer your dressing that way feel free to add additional maple syrup.
- You can easily double the dressing recipe.
What is Creamy Balsamic Good On?
The better question is, what isn’t it good on? It’s good on so many things and not just salads! It’s delicious on top of almost any salad, I especially love using it on berries and feta salad.
You can also drizzle it on top of these balsamic maple roasted brussels sprouts with bacon or dip these parmesan pesto roasted potatoes into it.
Storage
Balsamic dressing will keep in a jar with a lid or other airtight container for 5-6 days. If the dressing separates at all, shake, stir, or whisk it before serving.
